To our patriotic and civic minded citizens, businesses, organizations, community and political leaders:

State Representative Fred Durhal Jr.
We have something in common, we support our veterans (past, current and future) and recognize the enormous contributions they have made and are making to our country. Since 1919 The American Legion has fielded a virtual army of talented men and women to help our fellow veterans…your fellow citizens…your neighbors, and perhaps even a member of your family.
As The Legion's service outlet to the Detroit community, Coleman A. Young Post 202's mission is to:
· Provide service to our veterans and their families
· Support the members of our Armed Forces
· Offer assistance to families of deployed military personnel
· Offer assistance to our returning wounded warriors
· Provide service, support and programs for our children and youth
· Work with lawmakers to reserve earned benefits of veterans and ensure that there is adequate funding of the VA health care system
· Work with our local lawmakers to make sure that the memory of veterans and veterans programs will always be in the forefront of their agendas
· Work with local agencies that support veterans and who's mission statements are in line with the 4 pillars of The American Legion.
